URAL 666 reverse headstock multiscale offset Fade

Added reverse headstock 6 inline, needs a zero fret nut so people can try different tunings without having to fuck with a new nut. Added 6 red switchcraft dpdt BXE016, black and green colors also. Top 3 control on/off and bottom 3 for hi pass filter caps. Added more detail. My other headstock design just didn’t look right. Also tried switchcraft illuminated switches but were too big. BXE016, black and green also https://switchcraft.com/Product.aspx?ID=3181

Spectrum added middle pickup and phase/kill switches

Added switchcraft 47206LRX DPDT 2 way switches for the kill switches and phase switches. Different from the spectrum. Mono only output, original only had 2 phase switches, added another, removed stereo/mono toggle. Will add, create wooden switch covers to match original, can shape in out of wood ash pieces, painted with acrylic and matte finish and flush mounted screws. Removed toggle switch, may add kill switch at bottom.

Multiscale Tiesco for the rest of us. Killer contours!

Thanks to Hudson Wolf for provide the plans. I was able to scale and edit in illustrator. Never could afford a spectrum. Was thinking about adding the p bass style pickups but I just prefer the pickups on the octave. I think all the true magic is on the 24th fret. And eastwood guitars already makes a perfect replica. White pickguard just looks right on this. May add a middle pickup and phase switches, may add three on/off switches and 3 phase switches like on brian may guitar or 2 and 2. Will test how it sounds. Maybe make a custom colored plate with the slider switches

Multiscale 25.5-26.5 added 3 way varitone and toggle and tremolo bar

Mustang 3 way toggle switch as master tone, or maybe seperate for each pickup mounted on top half of pickguard. My tagima has a 5 way but I’d have to open it up to find the source if possible. 2 volumes to do morello clean killswitch. Tried to source a pushbutton killswitch, but the one I bought has clicky sound that will most likely transfer the sound, not as quiet as switchcraft toggle. Doubt it will be quiet when trying to kill the clean sounds.

wip, killswitch, p90s or mix w5ith humbuckers, really like the gold foils

Been inspired by a lot guitar designs from diemel guitars and ormsby. Really want something of decent quality at low to midrange prices.

CNC workshop preview urban workshop

Making a sign for my company. Good way to learn how to get my gcode to work and see how well this thing will cut. Teacher asked me if I were to pocket the pickguard, eventually with thicker body wood. Ill probably use semi thick plywood for this one.

From illustorator imported to Vectric Vcarve Pro. Had to make sure all shapes were closed or would get an error message. Also had to space out logo text or vcarve would error out. Will post my settings if they work.

Body design Inspired by Teisco TG-64

Differences, fitting for 24 fret neck, will maybe use wilkenson tremolo either the WVS50 k2 or VS-100G. Just need a reliabler floating tremolo. Floyd Rose possibly too. Instead of monkey bar, I will make semi hollow. Since I am using heavy hard ash body I really need to chamber this wood. Nobody likes heavy guitars. The density might be a good thing, meaning a can really chamber the thing and it will be stable enough for tremolo or FR.
WVS50 IIK model, slightly smaller string spacing than other model, also cheaper. Reverand used this on some of their models.

This one has same string spacing as american strat, but a bit more expensive. Kind of debating wether I should keep same specs as a strat so that if one of my clients needs a fix, they can easily find. Thinking about this way too much? Should I just go with wvs50 IIk? Can decide right now. Also thinking about designing neck to easily retrofit a floyd rose?

100% Straight pull headstock

Bit the bullet, asymetric but 100 percent straight string pull. Also the other designs were based off 3 inch wide blanks, when in fact they were 4 inches! I widened the neck a bit.

Inspired by headstock by Sam Koontz and looks a little more fender like. It looks like ocean waves. Also similar to lloyd loars mandolin. Inspired by 3 headstocks.

Really inspired by hufschmidguitars.com. He makes straight angle necks and straight pull on strings. He also makes amazing glow in the dark pickups. Also thinking about having truss rod adjustment at nut. Maybe not that much of a big deal considering maple neck and using warp resistant richlite fretboards.

So insecure that I need validation from other luthiers. I need to commit. I need confidence in my decision making. Less thinking and more doing. Less self doubting myself.

First order from Portland based company, GuitarWoodExperts.com specializing in guitar wood.

So pretty. Cut perfectly to size
Purchased 5 of these hard ash bodies. Density and weight listed also. 2 piece body, joint seems pretty solid.

Over 3lbs per BF. The Denser Wood creates a stiffer, firmer body.  The sound comes out bright and clear.  Great for Semi Hollow builds.
14″ x 2″ x 21″

Ordered 8 birdseye maple necks. Some have imperfections that hopefully I can hide. I don’t think it’ll be an issue. Can’t wait to use keda dye on these.

Shout out to Calvin Peterson for awesome service! How can I not purchase more? Number 1 supplier from now on. Even my local supplier had almost double the prices. Used his coupon code next time to average about 30ish dollars per body including shipping.

Closer

Straightened tuners. Able to actually make D and G strings a hair straighter and also able to make headstock much bigger. A bit limited by the 3 inch wide maple necks I ordered. Have to trim off tuners where the screws overlap. Thought it was messy but PRS did the same on some of their models. Id have to trim the holes flush to the sides. Shouldn’t be too hard. I could buy sprezel or hipshot staggered tuners but I don’t think it is worth the extra 30+ dollars. My goal is to make affordable guitars with decent hardware. Really trying to keep it under $1000.

ToneNinja.com staggered tuners illustrated

Bought a couple sets of Toneninja staggered tuners for about 30 a set. Bought Lefty and Righty. Looks like the screw insert for the D and G strings will conflict with each other. May have to Move the Left tuners non asymetrical up.
  • Two (2) bass side tuners with long (22.5 mm) posts
  • Two (2) bass side tuners with medium (21 mm) posts
  • Two (2) bass side tuners with short (19.5 mm) posts
  • Six (6) screw-in 10 mm bushings
  • Six (6) washers
  • Six (6) mounting screws

Headstock idea – getting closer

Getting closer, kind of impossible to make D and G strings straight because of 14.5 mm washer on tuner. Very similar to Gibson ES-336 from 90s. String tree issue? Since this headstock will not be tilted back. Thought about the telecaster snake headstock but strings are not straight at all. Maybe shape more like an eagle head?

Maple wood prices comparison

Comparing Online prices for 5 maples neck with at least one bass size. Stewmac.com vs Warmoth.com vs Hibdonhardwood.com

Had both bass and regular sized necks Total plus shipping = $91.84
Only had 1 electric and 4 bass sized. Total plus shipping = $141.11
Had no maple bass sized necks. Total plus shipping = $143.59‬
Winner, Had all the necks I wanted for about $50 dollars cheaper. Not sure why Warmoth shipping cost was so much since they are closer to me in WA. Will be ordering from Hibdon.

First Acoustic Build, gift to my bra

Gave my first acoustic guitar build to my bra for Christmas. The guitar’s neck finally set in, giving more pull. Had to adjust the saddle height and nut height lowered. Went a bit too far on treble side and had to put the mini shim back underneath that Heath made.
Might be furniture touch up markers. Might have found some in store on PCH. Need to go back, the colors are useful I think. Heath told me to test markers on and then applied the gel satin and then checked for smearing.
42 mm neck like on strats and a custom headstock that I’m thinking about putting on my electric guitars.
Very pleased with sound. Soundboard carving that Victor showed me made it really bright. I did not cathedralrilize the tone bars and made traingular and also smoothed out everything for more harmonics. Took a lot off tone bars to make more brighter.
Initially sounded brighter than my Taylor but bass sound finally came in. Sort of a scooped sound I guess. The thin finish really helps the guitar resonate and bra definitely loved the feel of it.

4 + 2 headstock ideas, wip

trying some shapes, I do like the idea of having a straight neck though and having strings completely straight, idea from Gretche 66 convertible. Love how companies like PRS and Musicman headstocks are all the same throughout all their models

superimposed over a strat headstock, moved the pegholes for tuners quite a bit.
zoomed in a bit, love editing in illustrator, so flexible. Urban Workshop also has a large scale printer if I need to print it out, if making by hand.

Laser Engraved Pickup Covers

https://www.reddit.com/user/Vesuz/

“I actually used a 100w yag laser. If you are looking to do acrylic (engraving or cutting) you’re gonna want a C02 laser. We have 2 trotec flatbed C02 machines that are pretty good for that kind of thing. You could look into sand carving the acrylic too vs just engraving with the laser, usually has a nicer finish.” -Reddit user Vesuz

We make stencils with the laser. Cover it with your sand blast stencil material and then use a C02 laser on low power to cut through the stencil material but not into the acrylic then go with a second pass on hi power to cut out the shape of the pickguard, then sand blast. Should speed up the process quite a bit. -Reddit user Vesuz

Udemy “How to Design Your Own Guitar” by Mark Bailey

https://www.udemy.com/course/how-to-design-your-own-guitar/

Enrolled in Online Course, Amazing teacher, gets right to it. You can tell he has a lot of experience. One difference I would do is design the blueprints in Illustrator first for more accuracy and flexibility. Just need to find a big ass blueprints printer that prints at 14-15 inches wide. Or maybe a no border printer and tape up legal size pages together, seems messy though. More Amazon shopping yay.

Amerikkka.net launches

Domain purchased, talked to support, there other woocommerce plan was only couple dollars more but after watching videos, doesn’t seem to be too hard to set up on my own. Keeping design simple. Using photoshop, need a better logo. Also thought about trademarking name, only issue is that it sounds the same as America, and people will get confused. There is one trademark purchased on with Amerikkka in it. They have a class for selling guitars and making them. Only issue is I would have to pay about 250 for each category. Other issue is this fee is non refundable. Just seems like a pain in the ass, and I’d probably have to get a lawyer. $500 dollars plus a lawyer.
